South Link Line
After departing from Taitung, you can keep heading south along Provincial Highway No.9 and join the South Link Highway, going through Taimali Township, Jinfeng Township, Dawu Township, and Daren Township. On the road trip, travelers can enjoy the charming view of Coastal Ridge on one side and broad Pacific Ocean on the other. The whole trip presents many cultural and natural attractions to tourists from all over the world.
Driving down Nanhui Provincial Highway 9, you’ll get on Dawu Street where you can’t miss a giant vibrantly colored wall. Welcome to Dawu Rainbow Village! The bright Dawu Rainbow Wall is a famous landmark welcoming all guests to the village. Sponsored by an internationally famous paint company, the wall was completed through the combined efforts of the community. You can also find a rainbow bridge, rainbow pagoda, and other colorful locations perfect for taking an insta-worthy photo.
There is one more attraction on Dawu Street that you can’t afford to miss, an entire row of European-styled huts decorated with traditional aboriginal totems. These are the permanent houses of Fushan Tribal residents who were relocated due to the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot. The community has become a popular attraction after being remodeled.
