The Luye Marathon is held on mountainous terrain. The route itself is quite hilly and relatively difficult. However, this event was planned with the runner in mind, so that you could experience all of the beautiful scenery in Luye. The natural beauty of Luye will inspire you to keep pushing forward throughout the race. Starting at the Wuling Green Tunnel, the route heads uphill to the famous Luye Highlands. From there, runners can catch a stunning panoramic view of the Luye Plains before going back down to pass through Yongan and Luliao, idyllic villages with a special rustic charm. Runners also get a chance to check out the Erceng Bridge and the Ruihe Railway Station, both of which are new attractions in the East Rift Valley. The entire route is filled with pastoral scenery and dramatic views. Also, there will be plenty of water and snack stations throughout the race. The entire community shows up to this event, either as volunteers, or simply as moral support for the runners. You’ll feel the warmth of the people of Luye as they cheer you on towards the finish line.

This event has three different races; the Full Marathon (42.5K), the Half Marathon (21K) and the Beginner Run (11K). To encourage everyone to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, the Luye Marathon doesn’t award prize money, and is open to all ages. You will also get a medal with an adorable deer on it as well as a certificate of completion as long as you finish under the time limit.
