台9線為全臺最長的公路，全長476公里，其中池上到臺東市的這段花東縱谷公路（南段），建於狹長的縱谷平原上，全線可見山巒、田園景緻，兩山之間的美景又被稱為「綠色公路」。
池上、關山為全臺東稻米種植面積最大的鄉鎮區，擁有豐沛的雨水、低汙染的環境，才能孕育出全臺聞名、既香Q又美味的稻米。 實名為「錦新三號道路」的伯朗大道，因沒有電線桿跟電纜線阻礙視野，廣袤的稻田美景更加令人心曠神怡。而這片美景，始於農人務農時的辛勞，所以千萬別任意踐踏農田，更要禮讓務農的車輛，一起維護這迷人的風景。 成熟期：6月；11月：顆粒飽滿的金黃色稻穗，在這個時節將沉甸甸的搖晃著醉人之姿，整個稻田像鋪上一張金光閃閃的毛毯般溫暖，也是最多人朝聖的時候。
